Quote for the Week:

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go....

Banquet Time!

I must admit I am SOOOOO excited about the junior/senior banquet tomorrow night!  I know some of you are a bit too cool to be excited, but you should be!  Mrs. Billingsley, Miss Brimm, and I (plus a few devoted juniors) have worked really hard to make this banquet memorable.  My room actually looks like a glitter bomb exploded in here!  I know I will be running around like a crazy woman tomorrow and may look frazzled when you see me (since we can't get into the room to decorate till 3:00), but I can hardly wait to see you guys all dressed up!  In fact, one of my favorite events as a teacher has always been going to banquet/prom.  Seeing students in a totally different environment where they have to use good manners is one of the greatest parts of teaching!  So, make sure you let me see you Friday night--I can always use a good laugh!

EXTRA CREDIT:  I cannot believe my seniors are about finished!  I've only got one more class with all of you--that makes me sad :(  So, seniors, you can post your advice to the underclassmen:  as you are about to leave GCS, what advice do you have for them to make the most of their experience at Goodpasture.  Juniors, tell me what you look forward to since it won't be long until you're a SENIOR!!

To receive extra credit, you must post a thoughtful, well-written response no later than 4:00 on Tuesday, May 3.

  1. After fourteen years at good ole Goodpasture, I am ready for my senior year! I love Goodpasture, but all good things must come to an end. Plus, I am just ready to take the next step and see what else God has in store for me. I just know senior year will be amazing, and I plan to cherish every single moment. I am most looking forward to spending one last year with the greatest class ever! --Natalie Perry

  2. As one moves through high school, the monotonous days slowly blend together to form one long pattern. However, that pattern is shattered once senior year arrives. Although senior year has a lot of new and exciting things to offer, I am most looking forward to one final year of class bonding. Although floats and canning are fun for underclassmen, seniors, in my opinion, have a more enjoyable time. The freedom and companionship everyone shares together will combine to make senior year the best year ever!

  3. The moment I have anxiously awaited my entire life for has met an ironic twist- I find myself clinging to every second remaining in my high school career at Goodpasture. Thus, I am both excited and disappointed going into my big senior year. Excited because I have been presented with a rare leadership opportunity that only a senior year has to offer. Disappointed because I have a mere thirty six weeks left to spend with the classmates I have known my entire student life. But overall, nothing beats being the top of the totem pole so I am certain that my senior year will be nothing less than spectacular.

  4. This if from Megan Randolph who was having computer issues: The end of my junior year has called up many conflicting emotions: excitement at the approach of summer and my senior year, dismay with the seniors graduating, and anxiety about my future beyond high school. However, the excitement has mostly eclipsed my other emotions, and I find myself more and more looking forward to the benefits that come with being the top dog in high school. I increasingly anticipate the freedom and sense of family within each class that is brought on by being a senior! I am confident that my senior year will be a success and I want to cherish every moment of it!--Megan Randolph

  5. Looking at my time left at Goodpasture, the realization of impending seniority scares me nearly to death. I'm about to be the top dog in the world of high school. All of the activities I cherish so much are going to be ending. Thinking that I have one marching season left is gut-wrenching. I love this school so very much. On the other hand, I can't wait for college. Knowing where I'm going had fueled that desire beyond words. When I left the campus, I felt like I was leaving home and had an insane need to turn around. Being a senior is scary and exciting at the same time. I hope to be the example that has been set before me.

  6. Just be who God is calling you to be. Don't be anyone or anything else. During my first two years of high school, I felt like a weird, nerdy, goodie-two-shoes who no one liked. I kept on the path God wanted me to be on anyways. God didn't call me to be outstandingly gorgeous or an all-star athlete. God called me to minister to younger girls and influence people through my hard work in school. You don't get to choose God's plan for you; you just get to enjoy it. Be God's perfect nerd if that's what He wants you to be. -Sara
