Quote for the Week:

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go....

It's Finally SPRING!

Although some of you may be like Brett and prefer a different season over spring because of the dreaded spring allergies, I must admit I LOVE spring!  This is another time when I am reminded of the fabulous artist who is our God.  How can you look around right now and not see evidence of His majesty?  Look at the flowers, the colors of the trees, and the clear skies as you feel the gentle breeze on your face--just awesome!  Another aspect of spring that we all love is the reminder that summer break is right around the corner!!!!

As we wind down the last few weeks, which are sure to fly by, let me get on my soap box for a minute.  If you can see the picture in the background of my blog, you should see that is is a dandelion.  I chose that picture to represent another favorite springtime activity at the Boyd house:  dandelion wishes.  You seniors are about to move on, and most of you juniors will not be in my class for much longer.  As I reflect on all of that, know that I wish for God's grace to be upon each of you.  I wish for you to live in the moment and soak up the experiences of these last few weeks.  I wish that you would NOT find yourself looking for the days ahead--live for today.  I wish you would take time to be still and know God and know that he has surrounded you with greatness.  I wish you would do your absolute best to finish out this school year with zeal, passion, and determination.  I wish you would remember that I love you and am praying for you.

Enough sappy stuff!  It's just that time of year.  So, if you're checking out the blog looking for extra credit, you've found it.  By Friday afternoon, April 1st (no, this is not going to be an April Fool's joke), post your favorite memory of this school year.  Your post must be in paragraph form and must be well-written (duh!).  Be sure it is posted by Friday :)

SPRING BREAK IS HERE!

I know we technically have one more day till spring break, but everyone is already in spring break mode.  I think we are all ready for a great break!  While some of you get to lounge on the beach or explore some fun new place, I'll be hanging out with the Boyd munchkins while I try to grade a few research papers in-between our activities (including doing a boring adult thing--our taxes).  Whether you are traveling or just being a bum, I pray you get some rest as you take a break from school.  May you come back to school rejuvenated--ready for the LAST NINE WEEKS!  I can't believe I just typed that phrase.  Seriously, we are almost finished with another school year!  As excited as I am, I also wonder where has that time gone?  How am I going to cram in all those great lessons I want to share?  I guess I'll just have to load you all down with lots and lots of homework. . . Just kidding!  I'll probably give you the same amount as usual.  Just a reminder, though, there is a tendency to return from spring break and expect to do very little work.  Well, that won't cut it with me--we still have work to do.  So, let's have a fun spring break and return ready to finish strong.  Summer will be here before we know it :)

There's No Place Like Home

What a fantastic day!  Even though it's been hectic, I loved starting off with The Wizard of Oz.  All I can say is WOW!  We have such tremendously talented students at Goodpasture!  When Mallory heard about the play, she wanted me to sit with her, so I had the best seat among a bunch of 3 and 4 year olds.  Every time the curtain closed, they wondered if the show was over and then wondered when Tessa was coming back out!  I really think Tessa was born to play the Wicked Witch!  I also loved Zach, Josh, and Austin as the lion, tin man, and scarecrow--who knew Lump could dance?  Kudos to our freshmen stars Sydney Mann and Lauren Sutherland--phenomenal job as Dorothy and Glenda.  As I reflect on the performance, I am reminded how blessed I am that God has led me to Goodpasture.  Watching everyone today gave me a tremendous feeling of being at home, among family.  Yes, I'm being emotional, but I LOVE MY JOB AND MY STUDENTS!  When Dorothy says,  "if I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, I won't look any further than my own back yard.  Because if it isn't there, I never really lost it to begin with," I am reminded that there is no place like Goodpasture.

It's your turn:  Who is your favorite Wizard of Oz character and what is your favorite line from the movie?  You might have to google it, but answer the two questions and explain why you like them.  Post your response by Tuesday, March 8.
