The excitement is brewing...The air is filled with an intense longing...Yep, we are all thrilled that in just a few days we will have an entire week away from school. Yes, teachers like breaks just as much as students do! As I reflect upon activities my family will do next week, I want to do my best not to forget what the season is about. Don't get me wrong, I love the food of Thanksgiving and the thrill of shopping for a deal on Black Friday, but I want to make sure I remember the blessings and the importance of family. So, I plan to spend time next week hanging out with my precious grandmother. The munchkins and I will also see a movie, Then, the whole huge clan comes to our house for Thanksgiving dinner--all of my siblings and nieces and nephews and even great nephews! Finally, I get to spend more time with my grandmother as we shop Friday morning. We'll meet around 4:00 to shop then finish off with a Hardee's breakfast. Loads of fun memories!
Here's your chance for some extra credit. Tell me what your plans are for Thanksgiving break AND tell me what your favorite Thanksgiving food is. Type a 4-5 sentence, well-written comment that addresses both parts. Be sure to post your comment no later than Monday, November 19, by 4:00.
My Thanksgiving will consist of the 3 f's of Turkey Day: Food, Football, and Family. My cousins are coming into town from Texas for the holiday. My favorite food that we will be partaking in is my mom's mac & cheese. I will then end my Thanksgiving Day watching football. My break other than those events will consist of relaxation and some intense nappage.
ReplyDeleteMy Thanksgiving plans this year consist of spending quality time with family, especially since my Aunt Agnes is coming down from Michigan for a week. During this time, we'll all spend time together catching up, being thankful for one another, and of course eating! My favorite Thanksgiving food would have to be either dressing or macaroni and cheese. Nothing beats the taste of moist, homemade dressing! As for macaroni and cheese, that's a classic that you can't go wrong with! :)
ReplyDeleteThis Thanksgiving week I will spend some good quality time with my mother and brother. My brother's birthday is during Thanksgiving week so we are also going to do something special for him. I am so excited to give my brother his present! I hope that I can hold the surprise because I feel like I'm going to spill the beans pretty soon. Speaking of food, my favorite dish is definately mashed potatoes. It's so yummy!!
ReplyDeleteDepending on how much homework I have, I'll probably spend most of my time with my family. Unfortunately, we aren't going out of town this year ( 2 years ago we went to Disney World). We'll probably veg out and be cough potatoes for three or four days and enjoy our time off from school and work. My favorite thanksgiving food is the Turkey Stove Top Stuffing(sometimes I cheat and eat it even when it isn't thanksgiving). Have a good Thanksgiving Break, everyone!
ReplyDeleteWe will be going to all of about five different family dinners. Then the last dinner we have will just be my immediate family members. My mom makes the best dinner and we eat basically all day. My favorite food though is my grandmother's broccoli and cheese casserole. It's absolutely amazing.

ReplyDeleteOver Thanksgiving break, I plan to catch up and get ahead on school work. Also, I will be continuing my Stanford University programming course; however, I will take a break for Thanksgiving lunch at my father's parent's house and dinner at my mother's parent's home. Both grandparents make my favorite food--mashed potatoes--and make it quite well.
ReplyDeleteThis Thanksgiving we are having a huge family feast at my grand-father center. My mom,grandma,great-aunt,and aunt are responsible for feeding 150 people.I'll try to help with making cookies, but thats about it. I cant wait til the ham, dressing, macaroni, and sweet potatoes because they are what I will be looking for on Thursday. I really dont care for turkey because its to dry.
ReplyDeleteThis year, my family and I will be eating out on Thanksgiving day. However, we will still have our traditional celebration on the Sunday before. On Sunday, my brother, three uncles, and possibly my mom and step dad will gather today at my Nana's house. My Nana will make all of our usual holiday food: mashed potatoes, green beans, turkey, stuffing, gravy, and my favorite of all, banana pudding.
ReplyDeleteThis year my aunt and her best friend are coming up for Thanksgiving. We are going to have a big meal with most of the family. There will be turkey, dressing, and mashed potatoes, which are my favorite. There will also be lots of cakes and pies.
ReplyDeleteThis year we will probably stay home and relax during Thanksgiving. My mom always makes a delectable meal, and I am in charge of making chocolate chess pie. (Which Is my absolute favorite dish) Then on Thursday night my mom and I will go Black Friday shopping, and get all our Christmas shopping done! However, the thing I am most excited about is getting to sleep in all week.
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving break has always been the same for me--I wouldn't change that for anything. Every year, relatives from both families converge at my house for a huge meal. There's a fire warming the house, the sound of kitchen equipment being pushed until its last breath, football, and my personal favorite: the cranberry sauce. It's undoubtedly one of my favorite days of the entire year. Over the break, I plan to spend my time earning some extra money as well as writing and recording some new music.

ReplyDeleteOver Thanksgiving break, I plan on taking a much needed break from schoolwork until Sunday night at about 11:36 PM. Because of my large extended family, I will spend plenty of time mooching off the food supplies of various aunts, uncles, and grandparents. After sufficiently stuffing my face with my favorite potato casserole, I will sit back to watch football--glorious football. It should be a fun week, but before the fun can begin I must hope that Mrs. Boyd will not recognize that I turned in this extra credit assignment late--one can only hope.
