Quote for the Week:

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go....

Spring Break is ALMOST Here!

There is a certain madness in the air at Goodpasture as all of you a bit more squirrely than usual.  Some of you are no longer in the classroom even though your body is there.  You know what I'm talking about...Some of you are already on a beach somewhere because you just can't wait till SPRING BREAK!  Believe me, I'm counting down the days, too!  For me, Spring Break means all of the English III research papers are graded!  It also means play time at the Boyd house!  We don't have any great travel plans (we're going to Disney World when school is out, so I have to save some money), but we will do lots of fun things--yes, you can be jealous that we're going to the zoo and family fun center and Chuck E. Cheese!  However, I put the picture of my munchkins at the beach as a teaser...I'm sure some of you will be roasting on a beach very, very soon!

So, I know you're looking for it...EXTRA CREDIT!  If you are interested in some extra credit, you have to type and post a response that answers BOTH questions:  1. what are your plans for this spring break?  and 2.  what is your most memorable spring break ever?  You need a GOOD, well-written response of at least 5 sentences!  This lovely response MUST be posted by Friday, March 16, at 3:00--the official beginning to Goodpasture's SPRING BREAK 2012!!!!

  1. This year for spring break, I, along with the rest of the baseball team, am going to Panama City, Florida to play baseball! Although we're down there for the week-long tournament, we only play about five games. With all of the free time we have, the team bonds by going putt-putting, eating meals together, and working out in the hotel's weight room (even though it usually isn't large enough to fit all sixteen of us comfortably). Because of this, my favorite spring break was last year when the team traveled south to play in an Orlando tournament. While we were down there, we went to see a movie, went swimming, and played baseball, and with a group of guys like that, spring break was an absolute blast!

  2. Hmm...I don't think that I really have any plans for spring break. My mom and I had talked about going to visit some college campuses, but I think that would be the highlight of my spring break. I'll hopefully go to the White Room and check out some more prom dresses in hopes of finding my perfect prom dress! As for my most memorable spring break, I would definitely have to say it would've been three or four years ago when my family and I went to San Francisco, California. We got to visit places like Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, as well as just have family quality time together. We took this neat bus tour to Monterey, California where we stopped at a cool aquarium, farmer's market, had a great lunch, and don't forget shopping! If I had the opportunity to go back again, I'd be there in a heart beat!

  3. This year for spring break, I will not be doing much of anything. I will be here in good ole' Tennessee. While the rest of the world it feels like will be in Florida. Hopefully i can make it fun though. Well, i haven't really had much of a "memorable" spring break. We used go to panama city, even though its very fun down there, I feel like you need to be a little older to do stuff.

  4. My spring break this year is full of excitment here in Nashville! I am most excited about going hiking in the beautiful, warm weather that God has blessed us with. My most memorable spring break would definately be the March following my mom's liver transplant. My dad surprised us by taking us to Gatlinburg. Seeing my mom in such good health and so energetic was much better than feeling the sand between my toes!

  5. This year I will be going to Destin, Florida with my best friend Morgan. After she moved to Iowa three years ago, I only get to see her for two weeks out of the year, and spring break is one of those weeks. My most memorable spring break would have to be in March of 2007. It was the first time I had the opportunity to go to the beach with all of my friends. Ashton, Sierra, Christi, and I spent every day meeting everyone on the beach. Although the seventh and eighth graders social skills were lacking, I look back on the trip with amazing memories.

  6. I always tell people that I'm a Scandinavian at heart. Accordingly, my family is going to snowy Colorado this spring break for seven days of muscle-building winter activity. It's definitely not our first time going skiing and snowboarding in the mountainous Midwest, but we usually pop over to Utah. This year, to mix things up, my mother put Steamboat Springs on the itinerary instead. I'm absolutely ecstatic about getting to hit the slopes again, and I cannot wait for this infinitely long school week to end!
My most memorable spring break trip is when my family went to Nevada and California. We landed in Reno and then drove an hour to Squaw Valley, home of the 1960 Olympic games. We spent time hiking around pristine Lake Tahoe, drove to and hiked through Yosemite National Park, then ended in San Francisco. The weather was perfect, and I can't help but hope I get to go back some day.

  7. My spring break came early this year. I spent eleven days in the land down, Melbourne Australia. The plane ride was a little tiring. Sitting for 18 hours beside your new best friend can be a little uncomfortable, but I did get to see several movies. After arriving in Australia, we were able to see an Australian football game. This is much different than the NFL. The goal is to kick the ball between post rather than running the ball into the end zone. We went to the Melbourne Zoo where I got to see tigers fighting, baby elephants swimming in a pool and Papa elephant giving us a large laugh. I even got to be a circus trapeze flyer. What a thrill! Then the reason for the trip...the 2012 Moomba Masters Invitation. There were two thousand spectators sitting on the shores watching the skiing competition. Even though I did not place as well as I had hoped, I did bring home the second place junior men slalom trophy and place 17th out of 30 in the pro event. I think this might be my favorite spring break. For my actual spring break, I will be catching up on my school work that I missed.

  8. Well, I will be spending my spring break at home doing as little as possible. Just like every year, My mom has taken a couple days off of work so we can spend time together. I don't really have a favorite spring break memory; however, they are all special to me. It's an entire week of random activities! These include but are not limited to shopping, pottery painting, and movie days! I can't wait to see what my mom has up her sleeve this time!

  9. We are spending our spring break doing fun things and not so fun things. The fun thing we are going to do is going to South Carolina. We will be visiting historical places and also going to Paris Island. My dad was a Marine at Paris Island so it will be neat to experience that with my parents. The not so fun thing will be cleaning out the garage when we get home. The most memorable spring break we had was 4 years ago when we went to Maui and to Oahu when we visited Pearl Harbor. It was a beautiful and memorable trip that I will never forget.

  10. Spring break is always a relaxing time for me. So for this spring break,i'm hardly doing anything. Mainly what i'm going to do this year is relax any way I can. That means reading, sleeping, watching movies, and so on. I know i'm defiently doing homework before my break begins. As for most memorable spring break,I don't have one. All spring breaks are the same for me,so I do not have a favorite.

  11. This spring break I would love to be on a beach somewhere but unfortunately, i will be working at my job. The days that I am off I will be doing some me time and a little shopping as well. My best spring break was last year with my softball cougar girls. We went to Gulf Shores and had a blast. We played in a tournament and spent the rest of the days on the beach. It was an experience I'll never forget. We went crab hunting and just played around on the beach. I miss last spring break.
