Being fairly new to Goodpasture, I am still truly amazed with all the detail and dedication to these incredible creations! Being from White House, I had no idea that high school students and parents could make such amazing floats! I worked my official time slot with the juniors on Sunday, with Mallory in tow. What fun! It was great to try to listen to the Titans (and to holler at Chad for an update when I couldn't hear), to bug Abby to help me (the not-so-artistic teacher) pick out colors for my fish, and to chat with parents. I plan to spend a bit more time at the senior float site today and visit the juniors again on Thursday. I told Brett how excited I was that he would be part of floats in just a few years. He wondered what the big deal was. So, how do you explain the big deal float week is?
Quote for the Week:
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go....

I would say that float week is a great experience that every student at goodpasture should take part in. It is a wonderful activity that brings the class together in a way that other school functions cannot. One can spend time with friends and make new companions that could last a life time. I would stress that all of the time and effort is worth it in order to gain the sense of achievement you and your friends can share. Floats is a great time and I wouldn't miss it for the world.
ReplyDeleteI'd tell him that floats are an amazing activity that everyone should enjoy; it binds the class together and build memories that are never forgotten. I remember just yesterday, a group of my friends shared an experience that happened sophomore year! That's why everyone needs to go every year! I would tell him that if he didn't go, he'd be missing out on an activity truly delightful.
ReplyDeleteI would tell Brett that floats are an amazing way to grow closer to your classmates. They are so much fun, and you'll make so many great memories there. Floats help you build relationships and learn teamwork. If you don't go to floats, you'll miss out on so much fun that you could have with all of your friends. Floats week is a great time to talk to all of the people in your grade that you normally don't get to sit down with and have good conversations. Floats are a time to hang out with your friends outside of the classroom environment. You should go to floats, because you'll have more fun in those weeks than you will any other time of high school!

The week of floats is the best week ever. You get to talk to people that you normally don't talk to during school. I always have so much fun hanging out with people. Teachers also don't give much homework which is always a good thing!
ReplyDeleteFloat week is one of the best memories I have of high school. Everyone should participate in floats all three years. During this week you not only get to spend time with your classmates but you also get a feeling of accomplishment. There is also a lot of great food and fellowship during this week.

Float week is an unusual part of the school year; unusual because certain things happen during float week that might not ever occur the rest of the school year. For instance, the teachers lay off homework for an entire week. Also, you may never experience an event with such class unity again during your highschool career. Old friends repatch once strong relationships and new friendships are made. If you miss out on floats, you miss out on perhaps the most unifing class function that Goodpasture has to offer.

First, I would emphasize that floats is a beautiful bonding experience. It's a time where cliques and friend groups separate and branch out. Regardless of how close you are to someone when you start on a float, you will definitely walk out closer. Also, I would make sure to tell Brett all about how horrible it feels when someone says, "Oh, remember when so and so said this at floats... wait you weren't there that night." Float week is a special time that I think everyone should take part in. I am definitely going to miss it, but I will hold tight to my precious memories of floats forever!

I would tell him that floats can help him get closer to everyone in his grade! It's a great way to spend your time bonding with your classmates. At the end, when the floats are completed and amazing, you can look at it and think, "I was a part of creating that!" It's so cool to see the float slowly get pieced together, and then see the final product! You will never forget going to floats.
ReplyDeleteI would say that floats are the times in high school where everyone comes together to make something awesome. It is incredible to see what a group can accomplish when they all work together. Friendships are made and strengthened the entire week, and the best part is that teachers lay off on homework! I wouldn't miss floats for anything. My memories will stick with me forever.
ReplyDeleteAwwww, good stuff, guys! I love how you all realize what a gift that hectic week is. Let me say, too, I am incredibly proud of each of you for the final products you helped produce. I LOVED this year's theme and thought the finished floats were amazingly artistic. You guys rock!
