Quote for the Week:

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go....

Another Week Down!

Who can believe we are one-and-a-half weeks closer to the end of the first nine weeks!  We have had such a good week with the pep rally and neon day yesterday topped with the incredible game last night.  I am even more excited about the weather change this weekend.  It just reminds me fall if here and the beautiful color change is just around the corner.  Fall is my favorite time of year as I am in awe of God's beautiful artistry that is evident in the trees and the cool, crisp air.  Even my children love this time of year.  I hope we have this beautiful weather next weekend as we gather for COUGAR DAY!  The Boyd kids can hardly wait for this fun-filled day!  I will be bugging the juniors this week to help out in the concession stands since the proceeds from those 2 concession areas go toward the spring junior/senior banquet.

Soooooo, one more chance for extra credit this nine weeks:

Tell me your favorite memory from Cougar Day.  Post a comment of at least 4 sentences explaining your favorite Cougar Day memory.  These must be posted by 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 29, in order to receive extra credit.  Be sure to include your name if your google name is something unrecognizable.  Happy reminiscing!

  1. When I was in first grade I remember thinking that Cougar Day was the best day out of the year. I was especially excited this year because my mom was going to let me go through the haunted house. Anna Edwards and I went through it together. It was probably the scariest thing i had done in my life thus far. Although i was scared out of my mind, I remember thinking i was the coolest kid ever because, as a first grader, I went through the haunted house!

  2. My favorite cougar day memory was when I was in fourth grade. As fourth graders, we were dressed up as the people in the haunted house. I had so much fun with my friends as we watched people come through and get scared of us. It was an exciting day.

  3. Last year was my first year experiencing Cougar Day and it was so much (crazy) fun. For my Leadership 2 class, I signed up to work the nail and hair spray station (something I somewhat regret). By the end of the day, I had hands with so much colored hair spray on them they looked like something that could come out of a Star Wars movie. Also, I discovered my long lost dream to become the world's best manicurist would never come true. I was terrible and could probably make Chad Cartwright look like the Picasso of nail painting.

  4. One of my most memorable cougar days was in sixth grade. I had been to many cougar days, but this one was special. I got to work in the haunted house. I dressed up as Jason, and enjoyed making it enjoyable for people who entered the haunted house. It was truly an extraordinary experience.

  5. My best experience at Cougar Day was when I was in the haunted house in sixth grade. I loved scaring people though out the house. I remember I played the part of Jason from the movie Friday The 13th and my weapon was a plastic sword. I will never forget that experience!

  6. I have never been to Cougar Day, but we had a similar thing at my elementary school called Field Day. The whole school was divided into four teams: red, green, blue, and yellow. I was always on the green team. The day was filled with bonding with peers, eating a whole lot of good food, and competing in many fun games!

  7. My favorite Cougar Day experience was last year. I helped work the concession stand in the chorus room during the first shift of the day and had a blast. I also very happily donated my money to participate in demolishing a helpless vehicle. It was wonderful to break something and not get in trouble. I didn't really do much else, but I did enjoy the haunted house set up by the middle school. Cougar Day is a memorable experience that is fun for the whole family.

  8. I have not been at Goodpasture for long and this is why i have only been to one Cougar Day. I volunteered for Cougar Day my freshman year. It was fun interacting with the little kids. I hope to enjoy another Cougar Day someday.

  9. I have been to many Cougar Days over the past eleven years at Goodpasture. Although all of them have been enjoyable, last year's was definitely the best experience. I, along with Kerry Sommers, was a part of the Leadership II class and helped with the hair spray and nails station. The little girls were very excited to have their nails done and every little kid wanted crazy colors in their hair, much to the dismay of a few parents. It was great to get to know some of the kids and see them have a great time with their families.

  10. My most memorable Cougar day experience was the first time i went to the 6th grade haunted hallway. If you know me, you know that i don't do good with Halloween/scary thing. So going through that was a big thing for me. I got to the beginning of the hallway gave someone my ticket, and pretty much didn't open my eyes once. That was the one and only haunted house i will ever go in!

  11. When I went to cougar day in sixth grade, I was given a special job. The sixth grade class was responsible for working the haunted house. I had always been terrified of haunted houses, so I was nervous about being a part of a real haunted house. Once I finally go over my fear and began to scare the visitors, I loved the experience. I didn't want to leave the haunted house when my shift was over. Now, I love going to as many haunted houses as possible.

  12. The most fun i have ever had at Cougar Day is when I was in sixth grade and my class was chosen to work the haunted house. It was so exciting when kids would walk through the haunted house and my friends and I would jump out to scare them. I really enjoyed dressing up in rediculous costumes and finding places to hide throughout the haunted house. It was an exciting day!

  14. I would have to say that may most memorable moment from all the cougar day would have to be the year they had a helicopter giving rides over Nashville. Me and a few of my friends got to go up and I sat up front seat. So the ride was going fine, then about half way though he turns and the door on my side flies open and I FREAKED out. Everyone laughed because i was fine and the man said nothing was gonna happen so I just pulled the door shut, after leaning out of the helicopter, and sat quietly in my seat the rest of the trip. I was just too scared to speak and I will never forget that trip.

  15. As an elementary student i use to think about Cougar Day all year. I was always so excited to participate in the activities and compete with friends. There isn't just one memory in my mind from past Cougar Days, there are multiple great memories made with friends and family. Cougar day is a great day for everyone in the family young or old, anyone can have a good time.

  16. In elementary school, I remember getting so excited about Cougar Day and seeing what booths the "big kids" would set up for us little people to come play at. Being a sugar-loving 8 year old, the cake walk was my favorite. Who doesn't like free sweets? It was set up so that every kid won at least one round, but for me, I tried my luck multiple times and had great success. When I met back up with my mom later that day, she was literally handing my hard-earned winnings away to her friends because there wasn't enough room in our car for all of the cakes and brownies I had acquired! It was great getting to eat the items she did let me keep, too.

  17. My most memorable Cougar Day experience was my 1st grade year at Goodpasture. I was new to the school and I had no idea what I was getting into when I decided to go through the haunted house. I got a few friends together and we all daringly took our first step into the mysterious group of hallways. The last thing I remember was running as fast as I could to get out of the doorway. It was definitely one of the funnest, scariest, and most memorable experiences at my time at Goodpasture.

  18. Unfortunately, I don't have a specific favorite Cougar Day memory. I used to look forward to Cougar Day each and every year, so all of my memories are special to me! I absolutely loved walking around and playing the games. I especially enjoyed the year my mom rented me a cougar! Cougar day has always been a special day for Goodpasture, and I hope the tradition continues!

  20. I remember going to Cougar Day when I was younger. I was real little, and I don't remember much about it. I think I had fun. I won't be able to go this year. I think Cougar Day is a good way for the school to make money.

  22. My favorite memory of Cougar day was laser tag. Going to cougar day and running around inside the middle school gym dodging and shooting was fun. It also got me real pump for going back to cougar day again soon. That's why that memory will always be my favorite memory.
