Quote for the Week:

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go....

Ready...Set...Go!

I can hardly believe we are already back into the swing of things with a new school year!  My family and I had a fun-filled summer (as I hope all of you did) with little excursions here and there--including one to Kings Island where Mallory proved to be the dare-devil of the family.  I am very excited to be starting my second year at Goodpasture, a place my children and I truly love.  As we develop routines this year, I hope that all of my students and parents will utilize this blog to see what is going on in my English classes.  Bookmark it and check it each week.  You never know what you're going to find...

EXTRA CREDIT:  Tell me about your summer!  Type a 4-6 sentence response describing something fun or memorable you did this summer.  To receive extra credit, you must post your response no later than Friday, August 19, at 11:00 p.m.

  1. This summer my youth group went to Centrifuge in Panama City Beach! It was awesome! Our whole youth group got closer to each other and closer to God. My favorite part was learning more about the people in Africa who are in need and being able to give to them.

  2. This summer was one of the most memorable and rewarding summers of my life. I was given the opportunity to march with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps and, although I had no free-time, I learned many things about myself. I believe that, through my experience, I have matured not only as a musician but as an individual as well. I had a wonderful summer and hope that there are many like it in the future.

  3. This summer I was able to be involved with several different activities including a new service project called Under the Bridge Ministries. Ranging from volleyball camp to church camp, I was able to experience a variety of different activities that made my last summer in high school unlike that of any other. My favorite part of the summer was by far attending church camp. I was able to solely focus on Christ and my relationship with him for an entire week. Accompanied by meeting new people, I strengthened old and new friendships alike. This summer was incredible and I'm so thankful I had the opportunity at these experiences.

  4. I spent most of my summer concentrating on football starting out with the daily conditioning sessions and ending with a week of camp and three a day practices. However, during the two-week dead period, I took a trip with my family to Arizona. This was my first trip to Arizona. I really enjoyed seeing the desert landscape but it was extremely hot
