You all have to excuse my English teacher mode for a minute and let me be a mommy. I am so excited that my Reece has a birthday this weekend! He will turn 7 on Saturday and can hardly wait for his party (that I have to finish planning). As my children get older, I am even more aware of the truth to the old saying about time flies. I cannot believe my children are growing up so quickly. I wish there were some way I could push a pause button to freeze time for a while! I know you students are probably rolling your eyes, but you might understand that one of these days!
So, in honor of Reece, here is another extra credit opportunity! Post a well-written comment describing the best birthday party you had as a child. Tell me about the party--who was there, what you did--what made it so memorable. To receive credit, you MUST post your thoughtful comment of 5 or so sentences no later than Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 6:00 pm. Anything added after that time will be enjoyed but not awarded extra credit :)
My best birthday party was on my tenth birthday; it is one of the only birthday parties I remember having as a child. My mom had just gotten a new pool in our back yard and I invited all of my friends to come swimming. We had a lot of fun and everyone enjoyed swimming on the hot august day. My best friend's sister was actually born on the day of my party! (Needless to say, his parents couldn't come). It was a great day and I will remember that party forever.
ReplyDeleteWhen I turned seven, my brother and I had a joined birthday party. There were so many people there. We all went swimming, ate cake, and played on the playground. Because there were so many people, I got so many presents. That is a seven year old's dream. I had new toys to play with for weeks.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was four, my parents got divorced, and I moved to another city with my mom. It was a hard time for her, she cried a lot, I did not see her smile for months. But when it was my birthday, she bought me a really big birthday cake and took me to an amusement park, that was my first time to go to a place like that. What made that day even better was that she smiled and laughed the whole day. I knew that my mom tried to make my birthday special, and she did it, I cannot think of any day that is more special. That was a memory that I would never forget, my best birthday ever.
ReplyDeleteMY 12th birthday was my best. I had some friends from school over and we played some football, basketball, and wiffle ball. After that we had some pizza and cake. I got some money and an ipod for my birthday. Finally that night my dad built marshmallow guns and we played in my yard. It was a lot of fun because it was at night so it was easy to hide. We had a lot of fun that night.
ReplyDeleteMy tenth birthday was the best one I ever had. My family and I met at my grandparent’s house. My grandmother made a cake just for me and cut me the biggest piece. The best part of that birthday was the gifts that I received. I had tons of fun with my family that night. As you can see, my tenth birthday was a most memorable celebration.
ReplyDeleteMy tenth birthday was one I will never forget! As celebration for entering double-digits, my family went to Memphis for the weekend. We went to the Memphis zoo and were the first group to see the new panda exhibit. Also, we visited the Peabody Hotel where I was given the opportunity to walk the ducks down form their penthouse to their fountain. -Alex K

ReplyDeleteMy thirteenth birthday was one I will never forget! I had my party at LaserQuest which is located in downtown Nashville. My friends and family came to celebrate. My favorite thing about the party was the gifts. I got so many cool things! My thirteenth birthday was the most memorable birthday I ever had. - Daniel Johnson
ReplyDeleteMy best birthday was my 16th birthday. I had several friends over to spend the night including Danilo, Coday, Jarad, Jesse, Jacson, and James. My birthday actually fell on a Sunday this year. On Monday monring, my Mom took me to get my license. Getting my license and driving to school made my 16th birthday the best.
ReplyDeleteMy greatest birthday was when I turned 11. It wasn't really a party because there was only three of my friends there, but we had fun anyway. It all started in the morning when we went to ride go-karts for a few hours. It was loads of fun making the people who worked at the track really mad because we kept bumping each other. Later in the day, we went home and had cake and hung out for a while. It was a fantastic day.
ReplyDeleteMy best birthday would have to be my thirteenth. Bryson, Matthew, and myself had a joined party. Our parents rented this place in Hendersonville for us to have our party. We invited all of our grade, and alot of the grade above. There was a live DJ and and so many people there. It was the best party ever!!!
ReplyDeleteMy best birthday was my sixteenth birthday. I invited a bunch of my friends. I had a DJ and we danced. I had a lot of good food. Everyone had a good time. It was a birthday i will never forget.
ReplyDeleteGreat memories, guys! Please remember, if your user name is something I don't know, you have to include your name in the post in order for me to know who gets extra credit :)
ReplyDeleteMy best birthday would have to be when i turned 11. I had a skating party and invited my entire grade. A lot of people showed up and we were having so much fun when all of the sudden this girl that I was skating beside fell and ended up breaking her arm. It scared all of us and we didn't want to skate anymore. We ended up enjoying all the pizza, cake, and ice cream. Overall it was my favorite birthday of all time.
ReplyDeleteI always had big parties when I was growing up, but my favorite had to be the year I turned 7. I had it at the bowling alley. I invited my whole class and other friends and my cousins. We also played video games and ran around a lot because we were the only ones there. My cake was a Tennessee Titans cake and most of my presents were Titans stuff. I also got to keep a bowling pin that everyone signed. I still have that bowling pin in my room.
ReplyDeleteThe best birthday I ever had was when I was turning eleven. My mom rented a limo, and we picked up about twenty girls in my grade. We all went to a really fun salon and then went back to my house where every single girl spent the night. It was complete chaos, but it was the best night of my life. Everyone had an amazing time and I would have loved to do it every year, but my parents seemed to have learned their lesson about allowing so many girls in our home. -Peyton Lampley
