Quote for the Week:

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go....

It's Finally SPRING!

Although some of you may be like Brett and prefer a different season over spring because of the dreaded spring allergies, I must admit I LOVE spring!  This is another time when I am reminded of the fabulous artist who is our God.  How can you look around right now and not see evidence of His majesty?  Look at the flowers, the colors of the trees, and the clear skies as you feel the gentle breeze on your face--just awesome!  Another aspect of spring that we all love is the reminder that summer break is right around the corner!!!!

As we wind down the last few weeks, which are sure to fly by, let me get on my soap box for a minute.  If you can see the picture in the background of my blog, you should see that is is a dandelion.  I chose that picture to represent another favorite springtime activity at the Boyd house:  dandelion wishes.  You seniors are about to move on, and most of you juniors will not be in my class for much longer.  As I reflect on all of that, know that I wish for God's grace to be upon each of you.  I wish for you to live in the moment and soak up the experiences of these last few weeks.  I wish that you would NOT find yourself looking for the days ahead--live for today.  I wish you would take time to be still and know God and know that he has surrounded you with greatness.  I wish you would do your absolute best to finish out this school year with zeal, passion, and determination.  I wish you would remember that I love you and am praying for you.

Enough sappy stuff!  It's just that time of year.  So, if you're checking out the blog looking for extra credit, you've found it.  By Friday afternoon, April 1st (no, this is not going to be an April Fool's joke), post your favorite memory of this school year.  Your post must be in paragraph form and must be well-written (duh!).  Be sure it is posted by Friday :)

  1. As i sit here and reflect upon the great year I have had, I find it extremely hard to pick a favorite memory. I would have to say the trip to New York definitely ranks up near the top of my list. It was the busiest three days of my life, but I enjoyed every minute. It was a wonderful experience not only because I got to spend quality time with some of my favorite people but also because I got to travel somewhere I have never been before! My junior year has been filled with stress, worries, and LOTS of precious memories. I love the class of 2012, and I am looking forward to senior year!

  2. Out of all the wonderful memories I have of this school year, the one I treasure the most is winning state during color guard. It was early November, the frigid wind was whipping against us, and the ground was much too close to the tempurature of ice for comfort. However, all the discomfort caused by the harsh weather eluded my senses as the words "division one first place color guard: Goodpasture Christian School" resounded throughout the Austin Peay stadium. Countless hours of the previous four or five months had been filled with an abundance of practices, expansive puddles of sweat, and several streams of tears; all of them had been devoted to that single moment of standing before the large trophy while we were given our title of state champions. We may have been mere minutes from losing our toes to frostbite, but we received the prize we had dedicated an exorbitant amount of time to. Nothing will ever replace the feeling of walking off the field, gigantic trophy in hand, knowing not only did we do our best, but it was enough to outshine even our fiercest compitetion.

  3. So many memories flood my mind as I ponder for the perfect one. I've had so many, and it's very difficult to choose just one. My most vivid memory is the feeling I had after marching in the Finals portion of the Division I State Marching Band Competition. I had a mixture of adrenaline, sadness, and exuberance all at the same time. The adrenaline rush coming from the outstanding performance and extraordinary, yet heart wrenching, marching show we had just exhibited. The sadness of the shocking moment that that was my last time marching with the seniors, along with some other kids moving to different schools. The happiness radiantly showing as we march off thea field, knowing we had left every ounce of energy on the field resulting in an incredible performance. Tears are rolling down almost every marcher's face as we all huddle together and wrap our arms around anyone around us as we listen to Mr. Laman and Mr. Millis' positive critique. This past fall will never compare to any other show I have marched. Resulting in a placement of 2nd, A Soldier's Story has, by far, been the most inspirational and extravagent show I have ever performed. It will forever remain one of the most important memories of my high school years.

  4. This year has been so stressful, but along with that I have had so much fun! By far my favorite memory of the year would have to be going to New York. I had never been to New York before, and it was so much bigger and extravagant than I ever imagined. We went to Time Square a couple of times; as one where to look in every direction buildings that seemed larger than life stood all around. Along with the magnificent structures we got to see, we were introduced to beautiful art from all different styles and eras. While our time in New York was short it was action packed. We were able to do so much and experience so many things that I might never have the chance to do again. This trip was definitely the best part of my junior year, if not my high school career.

  5. This school year has flown by along with so many marvelous memories. Although sprinting around neighborhoods with hopes of collecting canned foods, rolling (what seems like) trillions upon trillions of tiny paper balls at floats, and enjoying the plays that my wonderful friends performed were all incredible pastimes, none of those take the gold as my favorite memory from this school year. The winner of this contest is, without a doubt, playing varsity baseball. Though sometimes the dreary weather combined with the physical struggles create a miserable environment, the payoff for those efforts is rewarding. Come game day, we are ready, and the unparalleled feeling of baseball permeates the air. The gentle spring breeze, the smell of freshly cut grass, and the sunlight on my face puts me in the best of moods and makes for the best memory from this year.
