Quote for the Week:

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go....

Discussion Topic for Extra Credit!

It's that time of year again. . . time for us to gather around the table with family (some of you probably still sit at the kid table, right?) and stuff ourselves with far too much food then watch football till we're senseless. . . only to get up when it's still dark to shop for those great deals on Black Friday (maybe I'm the only one who does that!).  So, before the madness begins, I want you to slow down and reflect:  think about why you are thankful right now in your life. . . what has God given you for which you should be thankful?  To receive extra credit, you must post a comment of at least 4 GOOD SENTENCES no later than NOVEMBER 18.  If you don't do it right, you will not be thankful for Mrs. Boyd because I will not give you credit for your post!  Ready, set, GO!

  1. During this season, I have TONS for which to be thankful. First, I am incredibly thankful for my wonderful little family with three wonderful kids I don't deserve. Second, I am thankful beyond words to be part of Goodpasture; I LOVE being here with these students and teachers. Who knew it could feel so much like home? Third, I am thankful for the wonderful friends I have--I miss my teacher buddies, but am blessed to have their shoulders when I need them. Fourth, I am thankful for laughter--lots of it--between my three munchkins and 6 classes of students at GCS! Finally, I am forever thankful to my God and Father who has given me more than I could ever ask for. . . God is GOOD!

  2. The fall season always shows me how much I have to be thankful for. First of all, I'm thankful for my oppertunities. Goodpasture has given me TONS of oppertunities to succeede in life. Next, I'm thankful for my friends. This summer was hard on me and they were with me every step of the way. Then, I'm thankful for Jeremiah. He keeps me from completely losing my mind when things get a little overwhelming. Finally, I'm thankful for my family. They support me in everything I do and never miss an oppertunit to help make me better. God has given me so much to be thankful for and I'm love the life he has given me.

Second, i am thankful for my beautiful friends. They get me through every rough time in my life, and they always make me smile and laugh. Third, i am very thankful that God has given me the amazing ability to play volleyball and play an amazing four years of high school ball. I am truly blessed. i also am thankful for food, entertainment, technology, and lots of other material things which are not important, but at the same time i'd be bored without them. 4. I am amazed at the numerous blessings God has bestowed upon me. First of all, I am thankful for my spectacular family. Without their help and support, I wouldn't be attending Goodpasture. This brings me to my second topic; I am grateful that I go to a wonderful Christian school where the environment is centered around the Lord. Spending time in devotional every day is awesome. Thirdly, I am appreciative of the friends I've made. The way my companions and I share laughs, good times, and special moments with each other is unprecedented. Finally, I am thankful for my many gifts. Being athletic, comical, and intelligent are just a few of the talents God has privileged me with. -Wes Demirjian

  5. Around this time of year, I always think about the simple things in life that give me joy. I try not to give the stereotypical answers when someone asks what I am thankful for, but like most people, I sometimes spit out a quick answer without thinking. This year, I have learned to be thankful for beautiful people and things that influence my life positively. God whispers things into my ear from time to time, and I am thankful this year for His gift of listening. I have learned to let God show me miraculous things, and I'm trying to just be attentive. I am thankful for my capacity to love and be loved by other creatures on God's incredible planet. I am beyond blessed, and these gifts are just the tip of the iceberg. -Sara Luckett

  6. As I pondered and thought about my blessings, I suddenly realized there are so many, and there is absolutely no way I could ever list all of them! To name a few, I am extremely grateful for my precious parents, fabulous friends, and lovely license. My parents are good as gold and the greatest parents ever; they have made numerous sacrifices in order to provide me with the things I need and allow me to attend the most wonderful school on Earth, Goodpasture. I also have some beautiful Christian friends that I can always count on for a listening ear or a really fun time. Lastly, my license allows me to get from point a to point b and anywhere in between all by myself;it just doesnt get much better than that! I am so blessed. --Natalie

  8. When I think of fall, I think of Thanksgiving and what I am thankful for. First, I am very thankful for my family. They are always there for me and would do anything for me. Second, I am thankful for my friends. They are like my second family. I can call any of them if I need anything and they will be on their way. I am also thankful for getting to go to a Christian school. Sometimes I overlook that, but it is a blessing to go to school and be able to worship God. Lastly, I am very thankful for my ability to play baseball. It is my favorite thing to do and I am very lucky to be able to play at such a high level and excel. Hunter Newman

  9. To start off, I feel as I become older I only have more and more reasons to be thankful. One of the things that I have just recently noticed to be thankful for are my parents. I never actually realized how much they care about me and my well-being until I went to church camp last summer. I got to see first hand exactly what kids with parents who didn't care felt like and how they acted. In that moment, I realized how appreciative I really was for my parents. Another thing that I'm thankful for would be the opportunity to attend a school with the caliber of Goodpasture. At camp, I realized that my parents choose to send me to a school that has a safe learning environment. I can also feel comfortable at school. I don't have to worry about being searched for drugs when I walk into school or another student bringing a gun. Another thing that I love about Goddpasture is my friends, which is also another thing that I appreciate. my friends give me the support and encouragement that I need if I'm having a bad day or something has happened that has really upset me. I can also be myself around my friends. I don't have to worry about them judging me or when are having fun. Finally, the thing that I'm most grateful for is Christ dying for us all. He gave the ultimate sacrifice and died on the cross to save us from our sins. He gave us a purpose on this earth and to have a hope of something to come afterward. Christ gave us the ultimate example of selflessness and sacrifice. So, when it comes to Thanksgiving dinner maybe we shouldn't eat all of the mashed potatoes or worry about getting all the nest deals on all our Christmas presents on Black Friday but sacrifice some of our things for others. I love Thanksgiving and I'm so glad this wonderful holiday is finally here! -- Kim Biggs

  10. Madelyn had technical difficulties, so here is her comment posted by me!

I am a very lucky girl to have so many blessings in my life, and I am reminded of them every day. First, when I wake up every morning I hear my mothers voice and I am so thankful for all the love that she gives me. Second, when I arrive at school and am greeted with a warm hug from a friend i am instantaneously reminded of the amazing friendships I have. Finally, on my way home I sometimes find myself gazing in awe of all the gorgeous trees and their beautiful colors. I can honestly say that God has blessed me and I am so thankful for all of it.-Madelyn Hill

  11. I am extremely thankful for all the things God gave me to help me with my life. The first thing I would have to say that I am thankful is for my friends and how most of them have been through my life helping me out in the many ways they can. The next thing I would have to say is my church and my youth minister, both have been with me through some good times and some bad times, also it seems if I mess up both are going to forgive me. The last thing, I would have to say I am thankful for is my family; they have been there always when I want them to be there even the things I sometimes don't want them to be there. I'm just happy with all the things that I have been given throughout my life.
